The MSc Horticulture caters for early-career graduates working or intending to work in the global dynamic horticulture production and supply industry. It is designed for students who wish to acquire greater expertise in horticulture, and draws on the academic expertise available in the UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science.

Open to a range of undergraduate profiles but especially suited for those with a background in agriculture or other science-based degrees seeking to develop their business expertise and those with more business focussed degrees interested in moving into the food sector.

Overview

This comprehensive course offers a sound training in business concepts and practice, as well as a wider understanding of the unique environment within which food businesses operate. The curriculum has been co-devised by UCD Smurfit Business School and UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science in order to offer a unique opportunity to receive the highest quality business training as well as to gain a deep understanding of the food sector.

Overview

Sustainable management of our environmental resources is at the heart of some of the key challenges facing humanity today; food security, climate change, biodiversity loss, and the protection of water and soil resources. During this MSc particular emphasis is placed on exploring these globally important environmental issues in agriculture and other land use systems. Graduates will gain the knowledge necessary to address these needs through a combination of environmental science, policy and management expertise.

The MEngSc in Food Engineering provides a comprehensive coverage of bioprocess and food manufacturing systems engineering. The programme will be of particular interest to graduates in Engineering, Science and related disciplines .

On this programme you will develop new technical competencies in food and bioprocess engineering, acquire skills in the application of leading-edge technologies to the agri-food and biotechnology industries, including novel food processing technology, food process automation, risk assessment, computer vision for food quality and food safety.

Overview

The masters provides engineering graduates with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the design and application of sustainable biological systems for the bioeconomy, particularly in novel food process engineering, waste and wastewater management, and bioenergy.

The masters offers 6-8 months professional work experience with one of our industry partners.
